Information Management Intern
BACKGROUND
iMMAP is an international not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides targeted information management support to partners responding to complex humanitarian and development challenges. POSITION PURPOSE
Humanitarian operations and programmes rely greatly on data and information management services to better identify, analyze, and visualize the needs of affected population and make evidence based strategic decisions in the design of assistance activities.
Under the direct supervision of the Jordan IM Capacity Strengthening Officer (s) and Regional IM Capacity Strengthening Coordinator, the successful candidate will be participating in iMMAP’s IM training program as a trainee while simultaneously contributing to existing iMMAP IM projects – whether it is our IM Capacity Strengthening, Special Initiatives, Surge Support or Common Services projects.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Create, design and implement a humanitarian needs assessment
- Develop mobile data collection forms and surveys using KOBO
- Prepare and clean big data using MS Excel and R Language
- Create reports and advanced visualizations using Power BI and Adobe Illustrator
- Create maps using ArcGIS and QGIS
- Techniques to represent data in the right format
- General skills: written and oral communication, business email writing, and presentation skills
Description of Duties
- Participate in our IM training in humanitarian IM, primary data collection, data analysis, data visualization and mapping
- Contribute to iMMAP IM projects:
- Contribute to project methodological design or refinement as needed, such as concept notes, technical approaches, templates, standard operating procedures (SoPs), protocols or stakeholder presentations
- Providing support to the project leads as and when needed
- Any other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- First level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, information management or related field
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards and codes
- Great communication skills
- Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
- Strong sense of personal integrity
- Previous experience with Administration and/or previous INGO experience is an advantage
- Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
