Administrative Officer
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The primary goal of WHO is to support Member States in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating national health development plans for:(i) the achievement of national health targets;(ii) contribution to global and regional public health action; and(iii) the development of two-way collaboration that draws on the countries' experience to build a body of public health knowledge that can benefit the rest of the world.
Description Of Duties

Description Of Duties
- Plan, recommend and implement systems, norms and procedures, in compliance with existing policies, for the administration of human, financial and material resources, as well as for the monitoring, control and evaluation of such processes.2. Assist in the planning, organization, operation and evaluation of the administrative services.3. Formulate general and specific budgetary estimates for projects; plan, organize and monitor the application, control and accounting of approved budgetary allocations by programmes.4.Provide managerial and administrative support in the implementation of all WHO collaborative programme through initiation of relevant proposals for all planned activities as per plans of action and periodic monitoring of their implementation.5. Provide a range of human resources services, including forecasting future needs, coordinating/facilitating recruitment, training and staff orientation and implementation of performance management in collaboration with the relevant RO/HRO.6. Perform any other related duties, as required by the functional supervisor. Required QualificationsEducation
- Sound organizational, analytical and evaluation skills, completed by a good knowledge or understanding of donor agreements and reporting requirements, UN financial rules. 2) Working knowledge of information management systems.3) Excellent knowledge of GSM or other operation/grant management systems. 4) Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure; tact, discretion and diplomacy. 5) Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to convey written information in an effective manner. Essential: University degree in public administration or business administration or in other field related to the work to be performed.
ExperienceDesirable:
Essential: At least 2 years experience at the national and international levels, in administration and management, including supervision of staff.
Desirable: Previous experience in administrative or programme areas in WHO or an UN agency would be an asset, preferably in a developing country.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 47,895 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1776 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
