Technical specialists | Jordan or Yemen | 2020
Chemonics seeks multiple technical specialists for the anticipated Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Project (ERLP) in Yemen. This project will address the economic constraints in Yemen that have led to a decline and instability at the macroeconomic level and the concomitant fall in employment and the standard of living at the microeconomic level. The activity will assist Yemen in reestablishing key economic institutions, stabilizing the macroeconomy through improved monetary and fiscal policy, and facilitating international trade. ERLP will also work with private firms, smallholder farmers, and fisherfolk to increase their productivity and improve access to domestic and international markets in support of increased household income and employment.
We seek specialists in the following technical areas:
- Public financial management
- Fiscal and monetary policy design and implementation
- Macroeconomic reform in post-conflict settings
- International trade facilitation and regulatory reform
- Small and medium enterprise development and improving access to finance
- Agriculture and fisheries value chain and market linkages
- Workforce development preferably focused on women and youth
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business administration, economics, international trade, or relevant discipline preferred
- Minimum five years of experience working in developing and transitioning economies, including background of managing and implementing large projects in workforce development, public financial management, policy development, business enabling environment, particularly in the Middle East and Near Africa region or in post-conflict countries
- Experience working with or for USAID projects preferred
- Experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Strong skills in speaking and writing English and ability to work in Arabic
