A FOOD SECURITY AND LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM MANAGER, Azraq, Jordan
Work place: Azraq, JORDAN and surrounding area; with movement to other Action Against Hunger sites
Specific Objectives: To lead and oversee the quality, relevant, results-based implementation of FSL programming in Azraq town for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanian households in conformity with Action Against Hunger strategies, international standards, and national policies
Main Objectives
- Contribute to deliberations on strategy and the positioning of the FSL Department
- Identify needs and contribute to project design and development processes
- Set up, implement, and report on FSL projects
- Contribute to the quality, accountability, and impact measurement process for FSL stand-alone and integrated programming in Azraq
- Participate in the coordination, representation, and partnerships of Action Against Hunger
- Supervise and manage the team
- Contribute to cultivating institutional knowledge, capturing lessons learned, and technical development in FSL
- Fulfil general responsibilities and contribute to broader Action Against Hunger Jordan operational quality and consistency
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Technical Recruitment Criteria:
- Proven ability to work independently under pressure with tight deadlines
- Flexible and able to adapt quickly to fast pace complex dynamics
- Excellent communicator with exceptional English writing and reporting skills, displaying a familiarity with sector-related terminology
- Diplomatic but firm approach to obtain buy-in and contributions from a range of staff involved in proposal and report production
- Pragmatic and results oriented, creative and out-of-the-box thinker
- Analytical and logical thinking; extremely detail oriented yet able to connect the dots
- Strong representation and negotiation skills desired
- Strong computer and communication equipment skills
- Excellent intercultural, interpersonal, organisational, prioritising, and communication skills
- Autonomous, resourceful, very organised, and self-motivated
- Tactful, professional and transparent
- Demonstrable commitment to gender equity
- Able to identify creative approaches to navigating the humanitarian-development nexus
- Solution-oriented working style
- Firm understanding of ‘Do No Harm’ approach
- Demonstrable understanding, willingness, and capacities to commit to, comply with, implement, and promote gender, age, and diversity principles and policies
- Willingness to travel within Jordan
HR Recruitment Criteria:
Education: University degree or equivalent in agriculture science, economics, international development, or related field complemented by significant experience in resilience/livelihood-related field**
Professional experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in humanitarian and / or development programming on food security and livelihoods or related NGO role
- At least 1 year of field-based experience in the same or similar position required
- Experience working in developing and urban contexts
- Good knowledge of common livelihoods and economic development approaches, particularly with cash transfer programming
- Experience with proposal and log frame development, as well as reporting, for a variety of donors
- Action Against Hunger experience a plus but not mandatory
Language level: English (excellent) and Arabic (excellent) required
