Shelter Technical Officer (National Position)

Our Ideal Candidate:


We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience of project implementation in humanitarian/recovery contexts. Along with a related previous experience from working in the shelter sector. Also, relevant expertise is required. The candidate must be fluent in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, mainly excel and word. The candidate must be a Bachelor’s Degree holder or in the Civil, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or similar.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Administers the project’s activities including raising purchase requisitions, preparation of payment supporting documents, and maintaining the project’s archive.
2. Ensures that all project-related documents are scanned and stored electronically, and ensures proper filing of project’s documents that are submitted by the field teams.
3. Prepare technical designs, Bill-of–Quantities and drawings for the shelter programme.
4. Provides required support to Shelter field staff and technical capacity building.
5. Assess project products quality and ensure the quality check is conducted periodically with monitoring activities.
6. Organise and attend weekly meetings with field staff and help in producing minutes of meetings and teamwork plans.
7.Report issues and risks to line manager and take corrective action when necessary to meet project objectives.
8. Prepare regular sectorial reports, i.e. weekly checkpoint reports and submits material for the preparation of the periodic project.
9. Provide technical support, help in conducting sectorial need assessment remotely, and produce assessment reports.
10. Carries out any other related Shelter activities relevant to the role, as requested by the line manager.
11.Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
12. IF APPLICABLE: Monitor and document the implementation of project activities done by implementing partners and/or contractors (the plan of action activities, contracts, financial expenditures and project documentation)
13. IF APPLICABLE: Conduct quality control and provide technical support to implementing partners and/or contractors
