Junior Plant Accountant

AES Jordan PSC is a 400 megawatt (MW) dual fuel natural gas- and oil-fired power plant located east of Amman. The plant was the first Independent Power Producer (IPP) to start power generation operations in order to support the economic development of the country. AES Jordan generates approximately 8% of Jordan’s electricity and is one of the most reliable power plants in the country. AES’ portfolio in Jordan also includes a 241 MW Tri Fuel power plant, which entered in to commercial operation in July 2014. Together these projects provide 641 MW, contributing to the stabilization of the energy sector and enhancing the energy independence of the country.

AES Jordan is currently seeking a Junior Plant Accountant directly responsible of updating financial transactions to the accounting system. Supporting the Senior Accountant in all related assignment , not limited to monthly , quarterly and yearly financial closing.

The essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Preparing the financial statements for the review of the Senior Accountant.
  • Preparing bank transfer instruction and cheques to suppliers and employees.
  • Preparation of all required payments through bank transfer instructions and cheques.
  • Liaising with onshore and offshore bank to facilitate the payment execution.
  • Preparation of interest calculation information and critical sheet.
  • Reconciled bank statements on weekly and monthly bases. 
  • Maintained bank transactions, Accounts Payable, Accounts Recievables, and other documentation.
  • Booking into accounting system all petty cash, travel expenditures. 
  • Uploading to accounting system the actual stock count numbers.
  • Updating the actual inventory count into the SAP system. 
  • Providing the variances report and coordinate with stock count committee.
  • Support the Senior accountant/ finance department in any ad-hoc requirements related to the work.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in the field of accounting
  • 1-3 years’ experience in accounting.
  • Must have considerable knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP software is highly required.
  • Excel experience required.
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others and be a participative team player.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
