Project Manager
Title of project: The Implementation of the Jordan National Action Plan ( JONAP) on UN Security Council Resolution 1325, Women, Peace and Security.

Background
The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) is the leading national organization responsible for all issues related to women’s advancement in Jordan. Established by Cabinet Decree in 1992 and chaired by HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal. The JNCW seeks to instill gender equity in Jordan through the implementation of a wide range of projects, often partnering with leading international organizations such as the United Nations.
To support the implementation of the National Action Plan, the JNCW is recruiting as a UNSCR 1325 Secretariat to coordinate all efforts related to UN Security Council Resolution 1325. The JNCW through 1325 secretariat is responsible for the monitoring of implementation and reporting to the Inter- Ministerial Committee on progress of the implementation. The Project Manager will manage all activities related to the AWP of / JONAP-1325; Women, Peace & Security, and will work closely with, and supervise the work of the project team ( Project Assistant, M&E specialist, Media officer), to provide the necessary guidance and ensure that all outputs are effectively met.
The project is a joint effort between the JNCW and UN Women to support dialogue and engagement on UNSCR 1325. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of Head Unit of Programs& Projects and JNCW Secretary General with technical guidance from UN Women. The Project Manager will coordinate the work with the National Coalition for the implementation of UNSCR 1325, concerned parties for the Implementation of JONAP -1325 at the national level and to lead the implementation of NAP in cooperation with the international and local experts.
Main duties:
The Project Manager is responsible for the entire project delivery and the implementation of JNCW and UN Women joint-programme activities, and responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation and accomplish of the project, including but not limited to:
- Managing the team of the project and overseeing the day to day activities of the team related to the management and implementation of the project, including procurement, project monitoring and evaluation, financial management, progress and financial reporting.
- Leading the coordination and overseeing mechanisms of all work and activities of the national partners and stakeholders for the Implementation of UNSCR 1325.
- Leading the continuous consultations with the National Coalition and the Steering Committee members’ and the national and international WPS stakeholders to ensure the NAP implementation.
- Coordinating with the concerned of 1325 NAP advocacy campaigns & efforts for the NAP passage, with a focus on press, social media outlets, media campaigns and stakeholders’ engagement.
- Reporting and documentation the process, acquired knowledge and lessons learnt on the implementation of UNSCR 1325. As well as the next steps and identified challenges, in a comprehensive report as required.
- Drafting and updating the project’s contents, documents, reports and related materials.
- To review and assure the quality of relevant documents, including assessments, reports, training materials, studies and advocacy materials.
- Communicating with the stakeholders at the national actors as needed, effectively corresponding them regarding all relevant information and developments, and circulate documentation.
- Drafting the annual work plan and implementing the annual work plan, smooth implementation of the project activities in order to achieve determined indicators for the Action.
- Drafting Terms of References for experts, their contracts, monitoring progress on deliverables under those contracts and providing feedback as necessary, and coordination of the work of the experts consistent with the overall project implementation plan.
- Managing the budget of the project effectively and efficiency.
- Organization of “NAP activities” in coordination with UN Women and independent contractors.
Professional qualifications and other requirements:
- University degree in public administration or any other related field from a reputable university with an intensive knowledge of gender issues.
- At least 5 years of project management experience.
- Profound knowledge of gender and international frameworks including UNSCR 1325, CEDAW and the Beijing Platform for Action.
- Substantive knowledge on issues surrounding gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s international human rights.
- Proven experience and technical ability to manage large project.
- Experience working with governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations and international organizations.
- Working experience with the security sectors is an asset, as an experience working in humanitarian, peace and security and/or development settings.
- Demonstrated ability in team management and collaboration.
- Excellent networking, team-building, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English
- Computer literacy.
- Project Management Qualification (PMP) or equivalent.
