We are looking for a Jordanian national Community Development Officer to join our dedicated team in Jordan

starting in January 2020.


Who we are
forumZFD (Forum Civil Peace Service) is a German non-governmental organization established in 1996. It strives
for a culture of non-violence, where conflicts will be dealt constructively with the goal of ensuring peace. With the
help of qualified peace experts and the implementation of projects of the Civil Peace Service, forumZFD works on
the development of non-violent conflict transformation methods and tools for dealing with violent conflicts.
forumZFD implements programs in the Middle East, Western Balkans, Philippines, Cambodia, Germany and
Ukraine.
The forumZFD Jordan program started at the end of 2018 to support Jordanian host communities and works with
Jordanian CSOs and CBOs as partners in the field of community development, conflict transformation and peace
building.


Your tasks and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the project coordinators, you will 1. support the team in designing and implementing
the forumZFD Jordan program and its projects, 2. Translate/ interpret before, during and after visits to the
communities and 3. design forumZFDs online visibility and social media campaign. In detail, you will:

  • Contribute to the strategic and conceptual development of the projects targeting selected Jordanian Host Communities
  • Learn and give input on the approaches of conflict prevention, community-driven development and conflict transformation methods;
  • Participate in the discussion on the suitable community approach and tools;
  • Assist the non-Arabic speaker colleagues in Interpretation/translation of workshops and interaction with partner organization;
  • Develop concepts and designs for print, promotional, online and offline material. This includes website content, publications, reports, posters, and press releases.
  • Contribute to the identification and outreach to new partner organizations and stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the communication, relationship building and networking with partner organizations;
  • Contribute to the background discussion on conflict analysis (e.g. conflict and peace driving factors, intervention options) in Jordan;
  • Contribute to the design of project activities based on solid discussion with the project coordinator;
  • Contribute effectively in the discussion on how to link the needs and capacities of the partner CSOs with the expected community development and preventive interventions;
  • Contribute with content for brochures, profiles, and other material that raises awareness about the activities of the projects and the program;
  • Coordinate high standard media and public activities and prepare public statements and articles on issues for internal and external communication in Arabic and English;
  • Understand and support the development of the project PM&E structure;
  • Contribute to the financial and budget planning on the project level;
  • Support the technical team by improving technical and educational material development;
  • Administrative tasks assigned by Country Director.
Your profile:
  • BA in communication, social studies, economics, community development, conflict resolution or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in the civil society sector, CBOs/ international institutions
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of flexibility;
  • Team player
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic, with excellent written and spoken abilities;
  • Good capacity to translate and produce reports in English and Arabic;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate initiative, self-organisation and effectiveness;
  • Open to learn and develop;

  • Driving licence.

Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start your contract on January 1 st 2020 (initial contract period: 1 year with the option
for extension).
