Hygiene Promoter
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The Hygiene Promoter is part of the INTERSOS MADAD Project Team, working on project activities which includes: planning, implementing and monitoring of hygiene promotion activities, and contributing to awareness and communication campaigns, in the framework of INTERSOS Program in Jordan funded by EU MADAD. The Hygiene Promoter works in close collaboration with team members of the Programme, in coordination and under the supervision of the Project Manager. He/she contributes to and is part of conducting surveys and assessments, collecting and processing of information, implementing activities and reports. He/she spends most of his/her time in the field and is in regular and direct contact with beneficiaries and local authorities of the targeted communities (host community and Syrian refugees).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the WASH Project Manager, the Hygiene promoters will be responsible for:
- Organize and conduct surveys, questionnaires or assessments as required.
- Implement and monitor all the hygiene promotion, communication and capacity building activities.
- Participate in elaborating the project’s hygiene promotion and communication materials.
- Prepare a detailed HP work-plan to submit to the Project Manager for final approval.
- Organize and supervise all the awareness sessions, trainings and workshops that will be implemented during the duration of the project.
- Organize and supervise all the item distributions that might occur during the implementation of hygiene promotion sessions/events and communication campaigns.
- Contribute and develop tools for any hygiene promotion event under the project activities and campaigns.
- Help in Establish WASH committees in each targeted area and train their members in the relevant areas.
- In conjunction with the WASH committees, train beneficiaries on the proper operation and maintenance of the WASH items provided to them.
- Participate in workshops and trainings in the WASH sector in order to broaden working knowledge and potentially transfer acquired information onto colleagues and beneficiaries.
- Produce weekly/daily progress reports on the HP and capacity building field activities, contract status and beneficiary participation as required.
- Liaise with local authorities and community representative to ensure the proper implementation of the HP programme and the participation of all the concerned people.
- Contribute to the development of monitoring tools to measure the impact of the hygiene promotion/capacity building activities implemented in coordination with the WASH team, MEAL, this may include focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
- Ensure that activity documents such as sessions’ attendance sheets, pre-post tests, minutes of meetings, etc. are properly filed and kept secure.
- Identification and referrals of needs and potential new beneficiaries to the Project Manager.
- Participate actively and constructively in team meetings.
- Respond to donor requests for special cases that need individual attention and follow their progress.
- Fulfilling other duties of similar level if needed across other INTERSOS projects in the area.
- Collect photos of project implementation and ensure that donor visibility is respected
- Perform other duties as requested by the WASH Project Manager to support the project team and the project implementation process.

- Ensure maintaining high confidentiality of information, up to date documents, including processes and verification.

- Represent INTERSOS in a positive and professional manner to contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of INTERSOS mandate, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to other actors.
Security:
- Ensure the application of, and compliance with, security protocols and policies of you and your supervised staff.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Life science, Environmental sciences or any related speciality. Or equivalent working experience.
Professional experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience of which a minimum of 1 year of demonstrable competence and experience in WASH programs, for international or local development organisations
Professional requirements
- Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, the humanitarian system and its flexibility, donors and their high demanding, security and financial management in humanitarian context
- Advanced computer skills (MS-Office).
- Highly able to keep confidentiality
- Able to work independently
- Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of INTERSOS
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends when necessary.
- Strong ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize.
- Familiarity with the culture of the affected population; an ability to communicate respectfully, sensitively and effectively with the affected population.

- Arabic Language
- English Language is mandatory
