Local Communication and Translation Project Officer in Jordan
We are looking for a Jordanian national Communication and Translation Project Officer to join our dedicated team
in Jordan starting in October 2019.

Who we are
forumZFD (Forum Civil Peace Service) is a German non-governmental organization established in 1996. It strives
for a culture of non-violence, where conflicts will be dealt constructively with the goal of ensuring peace. With the
help of qualified peace experts and the implementation of projects of the Civil Peace Service, forumZFD works on
the development of non-violent conflict transformation methods and tools for dealing with violent conflicts.
forumZFD implements programs in the Middle East, Western Balkans, Philippines, Cambodia, Germany and
Ukraine.
The forumZFD Jordan program started at end of 2018 to support Jordanian host communities and works with
Jordanian CSOs and CBOs as partners in the fields of community development, conflict transformation and peace
building.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Country Director the Communication and Translation Project Officer will be
responsible for Arabic/ English vice versa translation for non-Arabic speakers in the team and to contribute to
establishing of communications channels, develop online and offline materials, and use suitable media channels
to increase program visibility. You will be working closely with the international Project Coordinators supporting
partner CBOs, operating within different communities across Jordan through fieldwork and technical advice. You
will participate in the exchange and communication with local actors and partner organizations.
The main tasks include:

- Assist the non-Arabic speakers in Interpretation/translation of workshops and interaction with partner
organization;
- Develop concepts and art work to produce print, promotional, online and off-line materials. These include
website content, print materials, publications, reports, posters, web pages and press releases.
- Contribute with content for brochures, profiles, and other materials that raise awareness about the
projects and program activities;
- Coordinate media and public activities and prepare public statements and articles on issues for internal
and external communication;
- Ensure that communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience,
and are delivered within agreed budget and timeline;
- Support the technical team by improving technical and educational material development through design
and graphics;
- Other tasks will include supporting the work of the technical team in coordination with the Country
Director.

Your profile:
  • BA in communication, IT or any relevant socio-economic fields, community development, conflict resolution fields of studies
  •  Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, ideally in the civil society sector, CBOs/ international institutions;
  •  Ability to work under pressure as part of a team and high level of flexibility;
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic, with excellent written and spoken abilities;
  • Good capacity to translate and produce reports in English and Arabic;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate initiative, self-organisation and effectiveness;
  •  Open to learn and develop;

  • Driving licence.

colleagues.


Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start your contract on October 1st 2019 (initial contract period: 1 year with the option
for extension).
