Microbiology Laboratory Technician
CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman and is seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Technician.
Scope of Responsibilities
- The laboratory technician will have full time responsibilities within the Microbiology laboratory.
- The technician will be responsible for all laboratory procedures from the reception of the sample, to the diagnostic interpretation and communication of the final result to the clinical staff, ensuring quality assurance and quality control standards are followed.
- The laboratory technician will be required to participate in all laboratory activities to ensure the Microbiology laboratory can maintain “good laboratory practice”.
- Demonstrates flexibility in relation to working hours. Laboratory technicians are required to participate in weekend work.
- Participates in development of new laboratory activities when required.
- Participate in proper handling of Laboratory stock and equipment management
- Ensures all data entry is performed accurately, and assists in the data collection, entry and analysis required for laboratory activities
- Assists in reporting of laboratory activity when required.
PROFILE
- University degree in Medical Technology/Medical Analysis, and License from Jordan Ministry of Health are required.
- At least 1 year experience in hospital laboratory.
- Excellent knowledge in clinical microbiology and in bacterial identification and antibiotic testing.
- Experience in similar role in humanitarian assistance with war victims or other trauma and/or victims of violence will be an asset.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, Multi-cultural flexibility or experience, good team spirit
WORK LOCATION: Al Mowasah Hospital, North Marka, Amman, Jordan
CONTRACT: Contract on full time to cover maternity leave, starting from August till December 2019.
Probable start date: As soon as possible
