INNOVATION OFFICER
Innovation for Change, MENA HUB
The Innovation Officer will lead the development, the testing, and the implementation of new approaches and methods to support Civil Society organizations in the MENA Hub.
Key responsibilities:
Work with the Innovation for Change Innovation Working Group to develop and drive the innovation strategy throughout the I4C MENA network;
Support the Hub Coordinator in planning an Innovation Roadmap for the region;
Provide capacity building support to the regional network incubators and other Hub stakeholders.
Provide digital storytelling and citizen journalism expertise, including trainings and learning content;
Assist the Hub in planning mobile collaboration and connectivity initiatives;
Assist the Advocacy and Campaigning Officer in planning and conducting advocacy and outreach campaigns through pitching new tools;
Provide technical input in evaluating solutions intended for partially connected environments, including situational awareness, data collection and operational use;
Assist with the review of program work plans and performance monitoring and evaluation plans;
Assist in managing a developmental evaluation approach to M&E;
Support the Hub Coordinator in diversifying and expanding the I4C MENA network to include innovation talents;
Other duties as assigned.
Eligibility:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to international relations, development, regional studies or other related subjects;
Five years of experience in working with activists and civil society organizations working in closing space environments on innovation initiatives;
Two years of practical experience conducting trainings in different parts of the world;
Demonstrated experience digital storytelling, citizen journalism and data journalism techniques;
Experience with mobile survey and collaboration approaches;
Experience working in restrictive and partially connected environment;
Experience with nonviolent civil resistance and people power methodologies;
Full written and spoken fluency in Arabic and English; preferably in French;
Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

The MENA Advocacy and Campaigns Officer
The MENA Advocacy and Campaigns Officer will lead the advocacy and public engagement campaigns in the region, from development through co-ordination and direct implementation, the capacity development support to network members and organisations through training and ongoing strategic campaign advice, and the formulation of policy positions.
Key Responsibilities:
Advocacy and Campaigning:
Lead the development and implementation of innovative, impactful and often complex advocacy and campaign strategies within clear budget limits;
Support advocacy coordination across the I4C MENA network across the region and with international partners;,
Liaise with colleagues in different I4C MENA incubator organisations and work closely with the global advocacy and campaigns,
Proactively identify and analyze on-going opportunities to advance the hub advocacy and campaigning priorities in coherence with the regional work-plan
Provide capacity development support to network members through training programmes – including campaign design, policy analysis and digital campaigning – and through providing advice on substantive policy and campaign strategy matters,
Collaborate with the Hub team to formulate regional policy positions.
Administration:
Attend relevant meetings, briefings and presentations in the region in order to report back to the MENA Hub Coordinator,
Develop and collate materials to represent and carry I4C’s positioning on key policy issues
Contribute to cross-regional campaigns planning,
Support organizational capacities in improving the advocacy skills of network members,
Maintain commitment to the aims and values of I4C
Develop strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for and maximize impact of promotional objectives
Serve as an effective spokesperson and forms strong partnerships with relevant parties involved
Attend regularly scheduled meetings to share information, brainstorm solutions and coordinate priorities,
Lead campaigns planning
Provide regular written updates on work progress and outputs/impact,
Participate in the evaluation meetings to reflect about the progress of the campaigns.
Eligibility:
University degree/post graduate, preferably in a relevant field (international diplomacy, political sciences, law.. etc),
An inspiring, energetic leader from a civil society, campaigning, legal or technology background
A passionate advocate for civil society, human rights, innovation and technology and for finding solutions to civic space issues across the Middle East and North Africa,
Demonstrated experience of maintaining deep networks and partnerships with civil society on a national and preferably regional level, and demonstrated experience in movement-building and participating in regional networks.
At least 5 years of progressive, demonstrable experience in implementing impactful advocacy projects and campaigns on local, national and regional level within the MENA region,
Experience using a range of campaign planning methods, advocacy and influencing and public engagement strategies
Experience of using co-design and Design Thinking methodologies in campaign design would be beneficial
Experience using advocacy and campaigns to influence a political agenda,
Strong digital strategy experience, working with email and social media channels
Strong writing and production experience, from reports to website and social media content
Strong analytical skills and experience in formulating policy positions on a diverse range of civic space issues
Experience of recruiting and working with volunteers
Ability to grasp issues quickly and analyze complex information (including research reports) and pick out salient points for further work,
Excellent management of competing priorities with tight deadlines,
Effective communication and organization skills,
