ROLE DESCRIPTION FUNCTION & POSITION Cash Assistant, Cash Assistance and Legal Programme
LOCATION Amman with travel to Mafraq, Zarqa and East Amman
REPORTING TO Cash Assistance Project Manager
OVERALL PURPOSE To conduct effective household assessments according to vulnerability criteria and to follow up with Medair’s selected households for cash assistance. To ensure that Medair’s values are met in communication with beneficiaries.
PROJECT OVERVIEW In Jordan, approximately 80% of Syrian refugees are living in host communities where they are renting accommodation and trying to live without the level of services offered in formal camp settings. Medair is working to help support host communities and refugee families by providing cash assistance and legal awareness sessions for them to meet their basic needs and increase their protection and resilience.

Key Responsibilities
1.Conduct home visits to households of potential beneficiaries for assessment, verification or household follow-up’s. Complete surveys using Open Data Kit (ODK)
2.Share appropriate information with potential/confirmed beneficiaries and the host community about the programme and be available to answer related questions and concerns.
3.Call potential/confirmed beneficiaries to give information about upcoming visits and distributions
4.Report on the households reached to the Senior Cash Project Officer
5.Participate in ATM card distributions and IRIS withdrawal at the bank
6.Liaise with NGOs and CBOs when requested by the line manager
7.Answer the helpdesk phone as requested by line manager, record any issues and follow-up as appropriate
8.Attend field referral meetings or coordination meetings when requested by the line manager.
9.Facilitate/ attend legal awareness workshops when requested by the line manager
General Responsibilities
•To know, understand, and clearly communicate Medair’s core values, programmes, and organisational profile
•To respond to beneficiaries with compassion and confidentiality while upholding Medair’s professional reputation among the community
•Facilitate the link between beneficiaries and Medair, providing information and feedback between beneficiaries and the MEDAIR team as appropriate.
•Manage community expectations following the scope of the programme (to not make any commitments on behalf of Medair or the UN or other humanitarian agencies).
•To uphold Medair values and to contribute to the wellbeing of the team as an active memberProvide translation services when necessary
•Maintain open and frequent communication, where applicable, with all functional links for this position.
•Be flexible, willing to assist in other areas of work as relevant and needed for this role.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE:
Vocational Qualification
ESSENTIAL
- Post secondary studies
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
DESIRABLE - Related qualifications (eg. Social Work).
Work Experience
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with NGOs.
- Experience working directly with beneficiaries from vulnerable communities.
- Experience doing home visits and assessments.
DESIRABLE
- Experience working with refugees or Syrian communities.
- Experience working in a cash-assistance project.
- Experience in report writing in English.
- Experience working with databases.
